New Year's Day, 2014

I need to check the actual stats, but this may be the coldest New Year's Day Toronto has felt in several years.

At least you weren't without electricity due to an ice storm!

Nice pix, BTW.

Got lucky on that one. Many surrounding neighbourhoods were less lucky.

Thank you - I like taking photos, though I don't quite know what the heck I'm doing, or even if what I'm shooting is in focus.

Luck has been with me the past 3 years.  Two winters ago, the ice storm took out the feeder which ends right at the north property line and it was down for the better part of a week; my power hardly blinked.  Last winter, I think I had an outage lasting an hour or so.  This winter, the big ice blast went well to the south; we got squat, and our roads were sun-dried the next day.

Of course, this just means Mother Nature is storing up for a really good one.
